We begin our Cliffs of Moher Tour heading south out of Galway city, and at the head of Galway Bay we'll come to the small town of Clarinbridge. It is famous in the gourmet world for its oysters and the Galway International Oyster Festival that draws a crowd of 10,000 people every year.
Next we'll venture on to Kinvara, a picturesque coastal village nestled on the shores of Galway Bay, where we will see one of the finest castles in Galway, Dunguaire Castle. It was built in 1520 by the mighty Rory Mor O'Shaughnessy. Dunguaire Castle has witnessed sieges, warring clans and renowned literary figures. Its history lies at the heart of Ireland’s literary revival in the early 20th century with past inhabitants including Oliver St John Gogarty, George Bernard Shaw, W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory.
We'll travel on to County Clare to the enchanting picturesque village of Ballyvaughan with it's dramatic backdrop of the historic Burren limestone landscape.
The Burren is rich with historical and archaeological sites like the Poulnabrone Dolmen, one of Ireland’s most iconic archaeological monuments, and the oldest dated megalithic monument in Ireland.
